Product FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Acrylic wall putty tends to be more flexible and less susceptible to cracking compared to ordinary white cement putty, and therefore it would be the superior choice before painting as compared to other materials, especially if the surface is expected to move over time. Flexi Strong Acrylic Wall Putty is a water-based, easy-to-use putty that not only provides a smooth base but also helps in hiding hairline cracks, bends, and joints, an area where rigid cement-based putty fails as the wall begins to settle. The problem with cement-based putty is that it chalks and cracks more when the wall moves due to minor movement in its structure. But then, cement-based putty is perfectly good enough to work with when painting a new and structurally stable surface, where flexibility is of little importance.

Yes, with an additional step, which involves putting a coat of interior primer on the dried putty prior to applying any topcoat paint on it. Flexi Strong Acrylic Wall Putty needs to be sanded after drying and subsequently covered with a coat of primer in order to prepare its surface to accept the paint coating and seal it. The direct application of paint without priming causes uneven paint absorption because of the different porosity properties of putty and paint. Once the primer dries, which takes about four hours, painting can take place normally. In other words, putting, sanding, priming, and painting – all in that order – is the correct procedure of applying acrylic wall putty designed to be painted, and not applying primer is one of the most common causes of poor paint adhesion.

Yes, acrylic wall putty is indeed water-based putty, a characteristic that makes it much more convenient compared to other types of putty made of cement that require manual mixing on-site. Flexi Strong Acrylic Wall Putty is produced as water-based wall putty that is ready to use as such straight from the packaging and does not require any additional mixing with water as cement putty does. This makes the process of applying putty more reliable, because you won't have to worry about making mistakes in proportions of powder and water, and also allows for easier cleaning after the job. The water-based nature of the product also ensures its elasticity and reduces the risk of cracks formation compared to other types of wall putty. If you want to prepare walls for painting, this water-based putty can be a very good choice.

Wall putty is a great way of fixing surface damages to the wall such as hairline cracks, small holes, dents, uneven surfaces, and joints. Flexi Strong Acrylic Wall Putty is designed to hide such surface imperfections to create an even surface by covering surface irregularities that would otherwise be evident even after application of the final paint layer. In the case of bigger structural damages such as large cracks, holes, or dampness on the wall, wall putty is not enough and there is need for the problem to be solved first either using cement or repair mortar before applying the final putty. The use of wall putty in the right way ensures that a rough or old wall becomes a new smooth surface ready for painting without having to replaster the whole wall.

Yes, the ability to fill hairline cracks is among the primary uses of acrylic wall putty, and the product performs this function quite efficiently due to its flexible and water-based formula that is able to withstand some wall movements. Flexi Strong Acrylic Wall Putty is known to provide efficient coverage of hairline cracks, bends and joints, creating an even wall surface before the priming and painting begins. For filling of cracks that are wider or deeper than those that can be filled by the usual putty, it is usually recommended to combine the putty with fine sand according to certain ratios to provide the additional structural filling before applying a regular layer of putty on top of it. After applying and drying, the surface needs to be smoothed using sanding to ensure proper repair of the cracks.
