Macaw Home Care Damp Proof Base Coat is a specially formulated product consisting of penetrative polymer that binds with the surface giving better resistance to dampness. Its triple booster formulation fights against dampness, efflorescence and alkalinity, at the same time acts as a superior undercoat for topcoat application. It is suitable for both interior and exterior surfaces.

Benefits
ALKALI AND SALT RESISTANT
Gives resistance to deterioration that occurs due to reaction with alkaline chemicals
PROTECTION FROM DAMPNESS
It does not allow moisture and any kind of water seepage to enter the masonry surface
New masonry surfaces must be allowed to cure completely
STEP 02
Typical curing time for masonry surfaces is 28 days
STEP 03
Ensure that the surface is completely free from all dirt, loosely held plaster, powdery residue, dust, oil, grease or any other contaminations
STEP 04
Remove growth of fungus, algae or moss by vigorous wire brushing/pressure spray machine and clean with water
STEP 05
For previously painted surface, strip off the loose particles from the surface
STEP 06
Dilute the paint 30-40% by volume with potable water, and apply by brush/roller/spray gun

Frequently Asked Questions
The damp proof coat is a special base coat which is applied to the walls in order to effectively protect from moisture intrusion, formation of efflorescence, and alkaline salt movement even before the application of the top coat. The macaw home care damp proof base coat provides protection because of the penetrative polymer which attaches itself to the surface of the wall, and it works using the triple booster formula because it resists dampness, efflorescence, and alkalinity at the same time. It can be used for the interior and exterior walls as an excellent undercoat since it makes the wall more resistant to moisture and improves the adhesion of the top coat. Being a white base coat with a viscous liquid formula, the coat is applied to the surface by means of brush, roller, or spray gun after the preparation of the surface.
Basecoat paint is a protective and preparatory paint that is applied after primer and before topcoat to enhance the wall’s strength and resistance to certain conditions such as dampness, alkalinity, or bad adhesion. The Macaw Home Care Damp Proof Base Coat is one of these paints. This is a penetrative polymer-based paint whose major function is to provide resistance to dampness, efflorescence, and alkalinity. Moreover, it is a quality undercoat that provides excellent adhesion between the topcoat and the wall. This product will be particularly important when applied on a wall that has been prone to problems like dampness and salt deposits, since a normal primer would not be enough to offer protection against these conditions. This is a white viscous liquid basecoat, suitable for both interior and exterior use.
Basecoat paint is used as an intermediate protective and preparatory layer, applied after primer but before the final topcoat, to strengthen the wall's resistance to specific issues like dampness, alkalinity, or poor adhesion generally. Macaw Home Care Damp Proof Base Coat serves this role, using a penetrative polymer formulation to fight dampness, efflorescence, and alkalinity while also acting as a superior undercoat that improves how well the topcoat bonds to the wall. It's particularly valuable on walls with a history of moisture issues or visible salt deposits, where a standard primer alone might not provide sufficient protection against these recurring problems. Suitable for both interior and exterior surfaces, this white, viscous liquid base coat is typically diluted and applied by brush, roller, or spray gun, giving the wall a reinforced foundation, a genuine step up in wall preparation for paint, before the final layer goes on.
Yes, there is no doubt that a salt resistant coating can protect walls from salt related damage quite effectively; although it would be more effective if used proactively, not after the efflorescence starts forming on walls. Macaw Home Care Damp Proof Base Coat is salt and alkali resistant, and it uses penetrative polymer which bonds to the surface of the wall to counteract the alkali and salt formation on the surface of cement based masonry, particularly in the monsoon or humid regions. In cases where walls have accumulated large amounts of salts or have started chalking, it would be wise to clean the wall properly and apply the base coat so that the product has an opportunity to work effectively.
Painting right onto a wall surface does not require any base coat primer. However, painting onto a wall which is cement-based or masonry wall is likely to suffer from dampness, alkaline nature, or even salt migration, will definitely make your paint deteriorate prematurely, peel off, or show any efflorescence later through the paint applied over it. There is one special product called Macaw Home Care Damp Proof Base Coat, which helps to cope with the risks of dampness, efflorescence, alkalinity, and also improves adhesion before applying a topcoat of paint. The use of a base coat before painting is less justified if you are painting a stable wall that has been painted earlier or does not suffer from dampness problems. But in case of a newly constructed wall or external walls that are exposed to constant humidity, then a base coat is important for protection.
